 Baseball Wins Home Opener
Mt. SAC defeated Rio Hondo, 7-6, in a non-conference game at Mt. SAC. Bryan Nicholson's walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth gave the Mounties the win. Nicholson went 3-5 on the day and had an RBI. Jonathan Peters (2-4, 3 RBI) and Nick Greene (2-4, R) also played well for the Mounties. Pitcher Juan Guerra pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings in relief while Chad Courts (1-0) picked up the win by pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Mt. SAC (1-1) will host L.A. Valley on Saturday, Jan. 31, for a double header beginning at 10 a.m.
Baseball Opens With Loss
Mt. SAC opened its season with an 11-8 loss to Orange Coast at Orange Coast. Jonathan Peters (2-5, RBI), David Carrillo (1-5, RBI), and Nick Greene (2-4, RBI) were the top batters for Mt. SAC. The Mounties (0-1) will host Rio Hondo on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 2:00 p.m.

Five Mounties Named To All-Conference Baseball Teams
Five Mt. SAC baseball players received All-South Coast Conference honors for their play during the 2008 season. Walker Moore (3B) was named to the First Team while Matt Morse (P), Richie Escalera (1B), Bryan Nicholson (OF), and Corwin Kim (OF) earned Second Team status.
