Men's and Women's Cross Country Head To State Championships
The Mt. SAC women's cross country team finished third in conference and sixth in Southern California at Mt. SAC on Saturday, Nov. 3. Both meets were held simultaneously but scored separately. Mt. SAC's Christine Cortez was selected SCC Athlete of the Year.
On the men's side, the team placed first in conference and sixth in Southern California. Mike Goff was voted SCC Coach of the Year.
Both teams will participate in the State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Women's Cross Country Places First; Men Second
The Mt. SAC women's cross country team placed first in the Golden West Invitational while the men's team finished in second. Combined, the teams won the Invitational with a combined score of three. Mt. SAC's Christine Cortez won the women's race with a time of 18:05. Both teams will compete in the Santa Ana Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 6. Men's and Women's Cross Country Place Second at Ventura Invitational
Mt. SAC's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Ventura Invitational on Friday, Sep. 7. Running a 4-mile course, the men's cross country team placed second behind College of the Canyons with a team time of 1:53:07 (a 22:18 average). Running a 5-kilometer course, the women's cross country team placed second behind Glendale with a team time of 1:52:01 (a 22:24 average). Mt. SAC will compete in the Fresno Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Sep. 14-15.
