The mighty Men's Track and Field Program continued their dominance of the South Coast Conference Championship by capturing their unprecedented 12th consecutive South Coast Conference Championship. During this span, the Mounties have captured 7 state championships including 6 in a row from 1997 to 2002. Although the team lost it's first community college dual meet in 12 years this season, the team rebounded back with strong depth in the Hammer and Pole Vault where they scored 69 points to easily overtake second place El Camino, 214 to 135. red buttonHead Coach, Laura Beeman, Accepts Assistant Coach Position With The Sparks; Will Remain as Head Women's Basketball Coach

Women’s Basketball Head Coach, Laura Beeman, has accepted a position as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Sparks Professional Women’s Basketball Team.  Beeman who recently lead the Mounties (37-1 record) to their third consecutive California State Community College Championship will remain at Mt. SAC as Professor and Head Coach while coaching with the Sparks in the off season.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for me to work with Michael Cooper (Sparks Head Coach) and the Sparks organization”, states Beeman.  “I am extremely grateful to President Nixon and the Mt. SAC Administration for their support in allowing me this golden opportunity to work with the Sparks.”

During her 13 year tenure at Mt. SAC, Beeman has lead the Mounties to 4 California State championships including 3 consecutive championships in the last three seasons.  More impressively, she has helped transfer over 85 student/athletes to the 4 year university level.  She has been named South Coast Conference (SCC) Coach of the Year numerous times and has been named SCC All-Sports Coach of the Year twice during the 2003-04 and 2005-06 seasons.

Beeman, a former Cal State San Bernardino All-American Basketball Player set the single season, career and individual game assist record while playing for the Coyotes.

red buttonWomen's Basketball Captures Third Consecutive Title; Fourth In Last Five Years
March 16, 2008
Mt. SAC (37-1) captured its third consecutive state championship, and fourth in the past five seasons, by defeating Foothill, 65-57, in the championship game of the California State Championship tournament at University of the Pacific in Stockton. The Mounties trailed at halftime, 30-22, but staged a second-half comeback that helped them capture the state title. Zequoia Williams led Mt. SAC with 16 points. Carmen Deal added 13 points and grabbed 19 rebounds for the Mounties while teammate Blaire Egardo scored 12. Mt. SAC won the state title in 2004, 2006, and 2007. Mt. SAC opened the 2007-08 season with a loss to Orange Coast, 63-57, in the opening round of the Mt. SAC Tip-Off Classic on Nov. 9, 2007. Since then, the Mounties pieced together a 37-game win streak that culiminated with today's state title. Congratulations to head coach Laura Beeman and her team for an incredible season.

Mt. SAC defeated Fresno, 89-83, in a semifinal game of the California State Championship Tournament at University of the Pacific in Stockton, earning a shot at its third consecutive state title and fourth in the past five seasons. Jazlyn Davis led the Mounties with 44 points while teammate Carmen Deal added 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Mt. SAC (36-1) will face Foothill on Sunday, Mar. 16, at 1 p.m.

March 13, 2008
Mt. SAC defeated Siskiyous, 89-68, in the opening round of the California State Championship Tournament at University of the Pacific in Stockton. Carmen Deal led the Mounties with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Jazlyn Davis poured in 21 for the Mounties while teammate Blaire Egardo added 18. The Mounties (35-1) will face Fresno on Saturday, Mar. 15,at 1 p.m.

SAC (34-1) will compete in the California State Championships beginning on Thursday, Mar. 13, at the University of the Pacific in Stockton. Game times and opponents are yet to be determined. Mt. SAC extended its winning streak to 33 games with a 81-53 win over Santa Ana in the second round of the Southern California Regional playoffs at Mt. SAC. Jazlyn Davis led the Mounties with 37 points on 14-of-19 shooting from the field. Blaire Egardo (12 points), Carmen Deal (11 points), and Alexsis Brown (10 points) rounded out the Mountie double-digit scorers. Mt. SAC (33-1) will host Fullerton on Saturday, Mar. 8, at 7 p.m. in the third round of the Southern California Regional playoffs.

Come out and support the Mountie Women's Basketball Team as they begin their quest for their third consecutive California State Community College State Championship.  The Mounties will take on the winner of the Santa Ana versus Cuesta game this Saturday, March 1st at 7:00 pm, here at Mt. SAC (Gym, Building 3).  Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for faculty, staff, students, seniors and children under 12. 

The Mounties are currently ranked number 1 in the state with an incredible record of 32 wins and 1 loss.  The team is lead by State and South Coast Conference Northern Division, Player of the Year, Jazlyn Davis (So. Guard).  This season the team captured the South Coast Conference Championship as well as 4 tournament championships.

red buttonWomen's Basketball to Host Winner of Santa Ana-Cuesta Game In Playoffs

Mt. SAC earned the #2 seed in the 2008 Southern California Regional playoffs and will host the winner of #15 Santa Ana-#18 Cuesta game on Saturday, Mar. 1, at 7 p.m.

Jazlyn Davis, the South Coast Conference Player of the Year, has also been named the State Player of the Year and secured a spot on the All-State 1st Team. Carmen Deal also was named 1st Team All-State.

Jazlyn Davis was named the 2008 State Player of the Year (Southern California) and South Coast Conference (SCC) North Division Player of the Year.  The sophomore guard out of E.L Bowser High School in Ohio has had phenomenal season, leading the Mounties to a record of 32 wins and 1 loss.   Along with Davis, the Mounties placed Carmen Deal (So. Forward/Guard) on the All-State First Team and SCC North Division Team First Team. Kendra Calvin (So. Forward), Sahfiya Brown (So. Guard) and Zsa Zsa Lawson (So. Guard) were also selected on the SCC North Division First Team.  Alexis Brown (Fr. Guard), Zequoia Williams (Fr. Guard), and Blaire Edgardo (Fr. Guard) were named to the second team.  The Mounties are currently ranked #1 in the state polls and are headed into the state play-offs.For more information please contact the Mt. Mt. SAC (32-1, 8-0) concluded its regular season schedule with a South Coast Conference win over Compton, 87-53, at Mt. SAC. Jazlyn Davis and Alexsis Brown each scored 27 for the Mounties on a combined 23 for 30 shooting from the field. Southern California Regional pairings will be announced early next week and are scheduled to begin on Saturday, Mar. 1.

Mt. SAC defeated East L.A., 97-31, to remain unbeaten in South Coast Conference North Division play. Carmen Deal led the Mounties with 14 points and seven rebounds. Blaire Egardo (13 points, six rebounds), Sahfiya Brown (12 points), and Jazlyn Davis (10 points) rounded out the well-balanced Mountie offensive attack. Mt. Mt. SAC remained unbeaten in South Coast Conference North Division play with a 72-62 win over Pasadena at Pasadena. Jazlyn Davis led the Mounties with 24 points. Blaire Egardo scored 19 for the Mounties while teammate Carmen Deal scored 11 points and grabbed 20 rebounds. Kendra Calvin also scored 11 for the Mounties, all of which came from the free throw line. Mt. SAC (28-1, 6-0) will host East L.A. on Friday, Feb. 15, at 5:30 p.m.

Mt. SAC (26-1, 4-0) traveled to L.A. Harbor for a South Coast Conference North Division game, but the host team failed to secure officials for the game. As a result, the game was not played. A decision regarding the cancellation/rescheduling of the game is pending.

Trailing 39-36 at halftime, Mt. SAC exploded for 52 points in the second half to defeat Pasadena, 88-69, in a South Coast Conference divisional game at Mt. SAC. Jazlyn Davis led the Mounties with 32 points and teammate Carmen Deal added 22 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. Zequoia Williams scored 12 for Mt. SAC (23-1, 1-0). The Mounties will play at East L.A. on Friday, Jan. 25, at 5:30 p.m.

The Mounties Women's Basketball Team captured the Ventura Tournament Championship and in the process gave Head Coach Laura Beeman her 300th career victory in her 13th season at the helm of the mighty Mt. SAC Women's Basketball Program. Last season, Beeman lead her team to a second consecutive California State Championship Title with a record of 37 and 1. Congratulations to Head Coach Laura Beeman!

November 23-25, 2007
Mt. SAC captured its fifth consecutive VC-Kiwanis Tournament title in Ventura with victories over Taft (89-49) on Friday, Nov. 23, San Jose City (85-44) on Saturday, Nov. 24, and Ventura (72-61) in the championship game on Sunday, Nov. 25. The win over Ventura College also gave Head Coach Laura Beeman her 300th Career Victory. In her 13 seasons at the helm of the Women's Basketball Program, Beeman has led the Mounties to 3 state championships including the past two. The Mounties (8-1) will play in the Sequoias Tournament on Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 29-Dec. 2.

Mt. SAC (5-1) defeated College of the Canyons, 95-57, in a non-conference game at Mt. SAC. Blaire Egardo led the Mounties with 29 points, five rebounds and three steals. Carmen Deal (19 points, 13 rebounds), Jazlyn Davis (13 points, nine rebounds), Alexsis Brown (11 points), and DeShaye Sells (10 points, seven rebounds) each played well for Mt. SAC. Sahfiya Brown also grabbed 11 boards for the Mounties who will play in the Ventura Tournament on Friday-Sunday, Nov. 23-25.

Mt. SAC won two and lost one game in the annual Mt. SAC Tip-Off Tournament at Mt. SAC on Friday-Sunday, Nov. 9-11. On Friday, Mt. SAC lost to Orange Coast, 63-59. On Saturday, the Mounties defeated South Coast Conference rival Compton, 97-36. On Sunday, Mt. SAC won the consolation championship by defeating College of the Canyons, 63-59. The Mounties (2-1) will face Cypress on Friday, Nov. 16, at Chaffey.

The two time defending state champion Mountie Women's Basketball Program will begin their quest for a third consecutive state championship this weekend (Friday, November 9 through Sunday, November 11) at the Mt. SAC Tip Off Classic. The 8 team tournament held in the Mt. SAC Gymnasium (building 3) will include Canyons, Compton, Fresno, Orange Coast, Palomar, Riverside and Solano. Mt. SAC will face Orange Coast College at 7:00 pm on Friday, November 9th for their first game of the tournament. Along with the excitement of a new season, Head Coach Laura Beeman is looking to capture her 300th Career win, which could occur this weekend if the Mounties can win their home tournament.
