Mt. SAC Track and Field Program captures third and seventh place at the State Track and Field Championships
The Mt. SAC Track and Field Program encountered some very tough competition, but still managed to achieve a 3rd and 7th place finish at the 2007 California State Community College State Track and Field Championships at the College of San Mateo. The Southern California Champion women's team led by Sophomore Sprinter Jasmine Baldwin-Foss managed to place 3rd with 61 points behind Laney College (83 points) and State Team Champion American River College (90.5 points). Baldwin-Foss placed 2nd in the 100 meters, 200 meters and in the 4X100 meter relay. Sophomore Angela Brazley captured the State Triple Jump title with a jump of 38 feet, 1 inch.
The Mt. SAC Men's Track and Field Teams 7th place finish was highlighted by Sophomore Jordan Savidge who captured the pole vault title with a national leading mark of 17'00"3/4. Savidge defeated the next nearest competitor by a foot and was named State Championship Field Event Athlete of the Meet. In an event that requires a tremendous amount of hand grip strength, this marks an incredible finish for Savidge, who in a freak accident suffered what many thought would be a career ending injury in November, when he severed off his right pinkie finger.
