Mt. SAC defeated Victor Valley, 32-9, in a South Coast Conference match at Mt. SAC. Excellent performances by Mt. SAC wrestlers included Brandon Ramos (heavyweight) and Chris Abeyta (157 lbs) who each won their matches by a fall. Mt. SAC (10-3, 3-2) will compete in the Fullerton Open on Saturday, Nov. 21.

November 18, 2009

Mt. SAC defeated West L.A., 78-64, in an opening round game of the Fullerton College Tournament at Fullerton. Antonio Biglow led the Mounties with 14 points and five assists. Ariel Hall-Jones (13 points), Rashad Bias (11 points, five rebounds), Josh White (10 points, eight rebounds) and Kane Robinson (10 points, eight rebounds) rounded out the Mounties' balanced offensive attack. Mt. SAC (4-0) will face Fullerton in the second round on Friday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m.

arrowFourteen football players and head coach earn conference honors
November 18, 2009

Fourteen Mt. SAC football players have earned SCFA All-National Division Central Conference honors for their play during the 2009 season. Additionally, head coach Bob Jastrub was named the All-NDCC Coach of the Year. Mt. SAC quarterback Matt Faulkner was named the NDCC Offensive Player of the Year and Mountie defensive end Bruce Irvin was named the NDCC Defensive Player of the Year. First team All-NDCC offensive players from Mt. SAC include: offensive lineman Joe Unga, offensive lineman Manase Foketi, and wide receiver Jesse Canada. First team defensive All-NDCC Mounties include: defensive lineman Kapono Asuega, linebacker Kerel James and defensive back Arness Ikner. Second team offense honorees include: running backs Bryce McBride and Lancer Iosefa. Second team defense honorees include: defensive lineman Paul Dancy, linebacker Nathan Vaiomounga, defensive back Austin Daniels and punter Ian Campbell. The Mounties (9-1) are seeded No. 1 in the Southern California Regional playoffs and will host L.A. Pierce (7-3) in the Southern California Bowl opening round game on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m.

The Mt. SAC women's soccer team (13-5-2) has been seeded No. 11 in the Southern California Regional playoffs and will travel to No. 6 L.A. Pierce (15-2-2) for a first round game on Saturday, Nov. 21.

The Mt. SAC men's soccer team has been seeded No. 2 in the Southern California Regional playoffs and will have a first round bye. The Mounties (16-1-3) a second round game on Tuesday, Nov. 24, against the winner of the Oxnard-Moorpark game which will be played on Saturday, Nov. 21. Rio Honod (17-1-3) received the top seed in this years tournament.

National Central Conference champion Mt. SAC (9-1) has earned the top seed in the Southern California Regional playoffs and will host eighth-seeded L.A. Pierce (7-3) in the opening round Southern California Bowl game on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Hilmer Lodge Stadium. Pierce is the American Pacific Conference champion.

Six Mt. SAC wrestlers placed in their respective weight categories at the Cerritos Open Tournament at Cerritos. Mountie place winners include: Pierce Lowry (133 lbs, 4th place), Chris Abeyta (157 lbs, 5th place), Nico Phillips (165 lbs, 2nd place), Alfredo Torres (165 lbs, 4th place), Julian Silva (197 lbs, 1st place) and Frank Ayala (heavyweight, 2nd place). Mt. SAC (9-3, 2-2) will resume South Coast Conference competition by hosting Victor Valley on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m.

arrowFootball closes regular season with win, claims conference title outright
November 14, 2009

Matt Faulkner threw four touchdowns and 258 yards on 19-of-29 passing to lead Mt. SAC to a 41-33 National Central Conference win over Chaffey at Chaffey. Faulkner threw scoring passes to Jesse Canada (nine catches, 155 yards, two touchdowns), Lester Thomas (three catches, 41 yards) and Thomas Sherman (one catch, three yards). Burton Iosefa led the Mounties in rushing with 40 yards on six carries with one touchdown. Kolby Arendse chipped in 38 yards on eight carries with one touchdown. Chaffey outgained the Mounties in total offensive yards, 416-381. Mt. SAC (9-1, 6-0) finishes its regular season schedule as National Central Conference champions and will now await the announcemnt of the Southern California Regional playoff pairings.

L.A. Harbor handed Mt. SAC its first loss of the season, 2-1, in a South Coast Conference game at Mt. SAC. Cesar Torrico scored the Mounties' only goal on an assist from Christian Alvizar. Goalkeeper Chris Lara had five saves for the Mounties. Mt. SAC (16-1-3, 11-1-2) has concluded its regular season schedule and will now await the announcement of the Southern California Regional playoff pairings.

Mt. SAC concluded its regular season schedule by defeating L.A. Harbor, 3-0, in a South Coast Conference game at Mt. SAC. Jennifer Rivera, Taylor King and Kasey Jensen scored goals for the Mounties. King and Cindy Paez had assists for Mt. SAC. Goalkeepers Dianna Zambrano and Elisa Lopez each had three saves for the Mounties. Mt. SAC (13-5-2, 11-2-1) will now await pairing announcements for the 2009 Southern California Regional playoffs which begin on Saturday, Nov. 21.

Top-seeded Golden West ended Mt. SAC's season with an 18-8 win in the second round of the Southern California Regional playoffs at Pasadena. The Mounties conclude their season with a 17-14 overall record and a 5-2 South Coast Conference mark.

No. 9 seeded Mt. SAC defeated No. 8 Cerritos, 10-5, in the opening round of the Southern California Regional playoffs at Pasadena. Brendan Cheng led the Mounties with four goals while teammate Kevin Huang added two. Goalkeeper Kevin Huang had 14 saves for the Mounties. Mt. SAC (17-13) will face No. 1 seeded Golden West on Friday, Nov. 13, at 11:30 a.m. at Pasadena.

November 12, 2009

Six Mt. SAC players scored in double digits to help lead Mt. SAC to a 96-72 win over Compton at Mt. SAC. Kaman Pruitt (15 points, 11 rebounds), Antonio Biglow (15 points, 7 assists), Cane Robinson (13 points), Josh White (11 points) LeQuinton Jones (11 points, 8 rebounds, 8 steals) and DeMarcus Isom-Jones (10 points) rounded out the balanced Mt. SAC offensive attack. The Mounties (3-0) will play in the Fullerton Tournament on Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 18-21.
